Question: What Is The Difference Between a Brown Cafe, an Eetcafe and a Restaurant?

Where it comes to eateries, the Dutch distinguish between various kinds of establishments, such as brown cafes, 'eetcafes', grand cafes and restaurants, but what is the difference between them?

Answer: In short, a brown cafe is similar to a pub, an 'eetcafe' offers bistro-like fare, a grand cafe is a more sophisticated eetcafe and a restaurant could include any of the above, or it could be a fine dining establishment. Confused?
