If boat watching is your thing, you´ll love Café-Restaurant Wilhelminadok (Noordwal 1) for its vistas of Amsterdam´s busy harbor. Boats and ships of all shapes and sizes pass so close by that you won´t be surprised to learn that a gigantic cruise ship actually managed to ram into the restaurant a few years ago. All´s well now, so take a ferry to the IJplein and follow the footpath to discover this IJ-facing jewel which, rather fittingly, is situated where the city´s dry docks used to be.
